Rancraft RD 26: a polyhedric boat
From the experience of Giuseppe Ranieri, here's Rancraft RD 26: a versatile boat aimed to raise the interest on pleasure boating giving good content at an affordable price.
There's some peculiar points about this Rancraft RD 26. First of all, the patented IHS hull (stands for Innovating Hull Concept), designed for top performance in comfort and frugality. It features a transversal redan that reduces water grip and eases planing pace even at low speeds. Through side air intakes, the void cushion between hull and water is always properly fed, making the boat better float on the surface.
Rancraft RD 26 comes in two versions, both walkaround but slightly different one another. The Deck targets the angler who wants to enjoy a sportcuirser during the day, while the Cabin boasts a double cabin with separate heads. On the latter, the superstructure counter-mold is taller and the helm station is moved abaft: the two solutions increase the indoor space.
Both models have a center console with double seating and a locker beneath (it can host a cooler or an icemaker), while the cockpit features an L-shaped couch. Along the sides, the space is dedicated to host fishing rods and gear.
To bow, the solarium is well protected with handrails and a tall guardrail, and to aft the passageway leads to...the water. Two swim platforms, beside the outboard, are optional.
Construction-wise, the hull skeleton is made by fir longitudinal bulkheads, glued to the transversal ones which are built in marine multi-layer composite. The structure is then sturdy and elastic at the same time.
The lamination of the critical parts is made with unidirectional mats, while the fiberglass layers are used for the whole length of the boat for uniformity and weight balance.
On the sides the sandwich construction is reinforced with marine plywood bulkheads, Termanto and expanded, ultra-high density polyurethane. The hull and deck molds are jointed by the strake and welded with resin along the whole perimeter, so to create a sturdy, undivided body. Wiring is protected by using corrugated pipes. Vinylester resin is used for the molds, while for the boat structures the choice is for marine-only isophtalic resins and neopentyl, Ral colored gelcoat for top protection against the aggression of salt and sun on fiberglass parts. Inside the factory, resin is mixed and catalyzed at constant humidity and temperature.
